1st Swimming Lesson

Big Pappa and I decided that we were ready and prepared for the Wee Ones to start survival swimming lessons. We both love the water and want them to have a passion for floating the river, swimming, and the beach as we do. My Aunt and Cousin teach the classes at this particular swim academy and so that made it a little easier to make our decision to start them at the age of 13 months. Thanks to Nana, they started today! Their class is considered the Penguin level and they are so cute. Parents are in the pool with them and tonight Big P was unable to get home in time to go with us, so Nana joined us for our first class. I think she had more fun then they did. hee!hee!

Chance did AWESOME. He did not cry, he voluntarily put his face in the water and he even kicked his legs a couple of times. We were so proud of him!!! We may have a little fish on our hands.

Miss Priss is a completely different story. She screamed the whole time. She would hold her breath when her face went into the water, but she did swallow a mouth full a few times. She did not even want to play with toys, she wanted noone to touch her but me, but we made her do everything...screaming and all. Basically the reason for this class is to get them to a stage of not being afraid of the water. Big Pappa and I love the water so much, we want them to enjoy it as much as we do. But to get them there, we have to make them feel comfortable and I feel this is where we can accomplish that. During the class, they are taught to put their faces in the water, float on their backs, balance and build their strength for kicking. I think that Chance is really going to enjoy it and advance very quickly. We were so proud of him and you could tell that he was proud of himself as well.

Miss Priss will be fine. She loves the bath, she just takes a little longer to get used to strange places. We have 12 weeks (2 days a week) of lessons and I pray that we have some professional Penguins by the time we are finished. Wish us luck!!!
