New, exciting, anxious...

This has been a new, exciting and anxious week for the Forey Family. The Wee Ones have officially started Mother's Day Out at our church for the first time. Sniff! Sniff! We have been so anxious over the past few months, but very excited about this new transition for the twins. They are attending MDO at our church and one of their teachers went to college with me at Harding University in Seary, AR. I am so excited about them having Mrs. Maria for a teacher. They will go to MDO Tues/Thurs from 9-2. Which means, lunch, naps and playtime will all be at MDO. I am anxious to see how they do sleeping on their nap mats and eating lunch away from us. I prayed the whole night and weeks before this day, that God would put it in their hearts and minds to not be scared while away from us and that Mommy and Daddy would be back to pick them up. It breaks my heart how upset they get when handed off to people they do not know and I have not been really unsure about how to prepare them for it. They are so use to being with only us and close family members that they do not always adjust well to strangers. I have feared since we made the decision to send them to MDO, that it would take them weeks to adjust. I also prayed for the teachers to understand and to know how to comfort them and make them feel secure and taken care of. So walking into MDO, Mommy was just as scared as they were and I had to remind myself to be strong for them. Pretty common, uh? As you can tell they were all smiles as we arrived! Do they not look so precious???

Walking through the parking lot holding Daddy's hand, Chance had no clue that Mommy and Daddy were about to leave him in a very familiar place in their usual room for church but with strange people, different kids, and for a longer period of time. He would play there, eat lunch there, take a nap there and maybe play some more. Things he has never done before while there. On our way, he smiled at everyone he passed having no idea what was lying ahead for him.

Miss Priss was all smiles, waving at the camera and saying "hi" as we walked through the parking lot. Having no idea that she was going to have a serious meltdown in just a matter of minutes, she was happy happy! I'm sure she thought we were going to walk into church and see Hudson, Aunt Steph, Uncle B, and Nana. Much to her surprise...they would NOT be there and it was going to be all very new and unfamiliar to her!

The second we walked through the classroom door, the meltdowns were ON!! Screaming at the top of their lungs, throwing their heads back, kicking their legs! We had to literally peel them off of us, hand them over to Mrs. Maria and Mrs. Amanda, kiss them goodbye and run! needless to say, no classroom photos were even thought about at this time! So parking lot photos were all we could get for their first day of MDO. They look so cute holding their lunch boxes uh?

Mommy did not shed one tear..oh not one, oh not one as we were walking out the door! HA! I wish I could say that. Daddy made fun of me, but I think it was because he was trying to hide his little bit of sadness himself. Cannot imagine how I will be when they start Kindergarten! Oh my!!! After about an hour and half, I called the church and they had just returned to their class from playing in the gym and were doing Bible hour. They were doing much better and had actually played in the gym. Brynlee was attached to Mrs. Amanda all day, which she tends to find one person and attach herself very quickly. Chance was adjusting well and was playing with all of the kids.

When Daddy arrived, they were both napping side by side and were all smiles when Daddy woke them up to take them home. Surprise no meltdown when seeing Daddy! YEAH!!! Their teachers said they did very well after the initial meltdowns and only cried once again after lunch and right before laying down for naps. I was so worried that they would not eat or nap, but they did both and we are so proud of them! Daddy said the whole way home, they were all smiles in the backseat and seemed to not be too mad at us for leaving them all day!

That night they were pretty tired from their hard day at school. After baths, they wanted to play with their backpacks and lunch boxes for a little while. They think they are so big! Sniff!

We are so proud of you our sweet Wee Ones and are excited to see you grow in so many ways during this new adventure in your lives! God has blessed with the two most precious children he could have ever given us and we promise to make the best decisions we can regarding your care and the environment that you are exposed to. We love you more then you could ever imagine and look forward to what lies ahead for you both!
