Elmo!!! Shamu!!! Oh My!!!

A couple of weekends ago, we decided to take the twins to Seaworld in San Antonio. It was a little brave on our part for a few reasons. They are at a crazy stage right now. They do not like being in their stroller for a long period time, they are too big to sleep in pack and plays, and they want to walk instead of being held. But we decided to give it a try because I had my heart set on going all summer. So on Friday afternoon, we headed out! The drive was great! We timed our departure just perfectly where they would watch a little Elmo in the car, take a nap and when they woke up, we would be ready to stop for dinner. They did great and stayed perfectly on schedule!

Miss Priss ready to go!

When we arrived in San Antonio, it was their bedtime, but since they had been couped up in the car for 3 hours, they were running wild. After baths, teeth brushed and jammies on, they were non-stop. They acted like monkeys that had just been let out of a cage. They were running all around the hotel room, chasing each other screaming and wrestling on the bed. As you can see, Chance has a good hold of Brynlee's hair. This is a normal site in our house.
Excuse the quality of the photos, the lighting was really bad in the hotel room.

Had to post this sweet face! Doesn't she look so sweet and innocent?

The night went pretty well considering that we each had a baby in bed with us. We got a room with 2 double beds and decided to not take the pack and plays with us. They did pretty good and I think loved snuggling with Mommy and Daddy all night. Saturday morning, the twins slept in a little and since the park did not open until noon, we let them sleep as long as they needed too. We headed to our favorite breakfast spot, Chik-fil-A and then it was off to Seaworld to visit Shamu! When we arrived, we picked up our stroller that we had reserved for rental. Lesson to be learned..will never do that again. We grabbed a map of the park and started planning our day. First off, a show that started at 12:30. So we rushed to the theater hoping to get good seats so the Wee Ones would have a good view of the "fish". We sat in the most perfect seats! As we are getting settled, we noticed a strange man wondering through the audience, dressed like a "tourist", wearing crazy clothes, a duck floaty, carrying binoculars and a large thermos. He was wondering around, looking for the most perfect seat and soon we realized that he was part of the show. Not saying a word, but acting very absurd and dramatic, he dumped a big jug of water on the row in front of us..the row we almost sat in, soaking a few of the guests. Water splashed on the twins and startled them a little, but no big deal. Within 5 minutes of this crazy guy running around, there was streams of water pouring out of large crates into the audience soaking people everywhere. A stream of water hit our row, getting the twins wet and it was meltdown city. We immediately scooped up the Wee Ones and headed to "dry land" the back of the theater. They were freaking out...especially Miss Priss!! I felt so bad, we had not been there an hour and we were soaked, her bow was completely ruined and they were crying! Parents of the year right here!!! HA! So we found some dry seats and watched the dolphin show. They were interested for a short period of time, but really could not see that well, so the show was more entertaining for Sean and I.

My soaked babies!!!

After walking around and seeing the sites, taking pics and even a few cat naps, we were ready to see Shamu and Elmo!!! First it was the Shamu show. We made sure to sit AWAY from the Splash Zone areas, but close enough to where they could see. The show ended up being a complete disaster. All they wanted to was run up and down the stairs and scream when we would make them sit in our laps. The only thing that would catch their attention was when the whales would jump up into the air and back into the water. Other than that, they would wiggle and squirm to get out of our laps. I only got one picture of the whales b/c I had a squirmy little girl in my lap the whole show. By this time of the day, I questioning my judgement if this was really a great idea and if they were just a too young for a place like this. But we were already there, had already spent the money and were going to make the best of it.

They did not want to sit in the stroller, they did not want us to hold them, they did not want their little monkey and puppy leashes anywhere near them so they could walk. They just wanted to run freely in Seaworld!!! We bribed them with stuffed Shamus, dippin' dots, lemonade in a crazy cup with a huge straw, everything!!!! They were testing our patience as parents and we were soon to fail! So we kept going and going and did everything we could to make them happy! So at last....the time had finally come..the moment we had all been waiting for.....

ELMO and ABBY!!!

They were completely beside themselves when Elmo walked out on stage. They heard his sweet, high pitched voice, saw his big red furry self and went crazy! Their eyes were as big as quarters and their mouths dropped all the way to floor. They could not believe their eyes. They kept looking back at Sean and I like, "Mom! Dad! Do you see Elmo? Do you see him?" It was the cutest thing and at that moment, worth the whole trip! I could not get any pictures of their faces because we had to hold them the whole time so they could see, but the looks on their faces were priceless. All they could say was, "Elmo! Abby!" Over and over again!!! After singing and clapping with Elmo, Abby and the rest of the Sesame Street Gang, they were in pretty good moods, so I thought maybe we could get some pics of them with the pumpkins and in their cute little Halloween shirts. We put them up in the little display and stood them next to the pumpkins. They cannot be still for anything and have to touch EVERYTHING, so they were all over the place! They were both pulling on the hay stacks and trying to pick up the pumpkins. A few of the pumpkins had rats and birds on them and they were pulling on the birds. As I turn my back to get the camera ready, there is a death wrenching scream coming from Brynlee. I turn around and one of the pumpkins had fallen over and the bird came flying at her. She FREAKED out, fell down trying to get away from the bird that was attacking her. It was funny, but so not funny! There were a few by standers that saw the whole thing and were cracking up laughing. They saw the pumpkin about to fall over on her and were coming to save her, but could not get there in time. She was hysterical!!!! I just knew from then on, she would never get near a pumpkin again! Needless to say, she survived, but we did not get any really cute pics of them with the pumpkins! She was freaked out!

That is the bird that tried to get her!
After the bird meltdown, we knew it was time to head back to the hotel, get naps, baths and head out for dinner! On our way out, I realized that we had not taken one family photo while there, so we stopped some nice ladies and asked them to take a few pictures for us. People are so kind to take photos for you, but most people could really careless what your photo actaully looks like and will just snap and go! So this was the best we could get!!! Notice Mommy is the only one smiling and looking at the camera! Oh well...at least one of us can cooperate with the lens!!! HA!

Right after this photo, we headed straight to the car, did not get out of the Seaworld parking lot, looked in the backseat and this is what we saw.......

Thank Seaworld and Elmo for making our children smile!!!!
