Scavenger Hunt

Funny story that Tammy says I must share.  I hope that you all see it as funny as what the two of us thought it was!

Sunday night turned into quite an adventure to get my last shot before retrieval on the 8th.  I needed my shot by 10:45pm and was planning to meet my friend Kris to give the injection to me.  At 9pm, I started to gather all of my things....my syringes, needles, meds, alcohol pads and band-aids.  This injection required a totally different needle then all of my other injections and I could not find the darn thing.  I ripped my house completely apart looking for the 25g 1 1/2 needle and could not find it anywhere.  I started to go into panic mood and called my 2 nurse friends to help me figure out what to do.  Alicia (Steph's sister in law) told me to just use the needle that we draw the meds up with.  My stomach immediately went into automatic nausea just thinking about using that thick of an needle in my butt.  My friend Kris suggested that I call all of the 24 hour pharmacies until I find the needle I needed.  After calling a few stores with no luck, I finally talked to the Walgreens in Clear Lake.  My conversation with the Pharmacist went a little something like this:

"Thank you for calling Walgreens 24 hour pharmacy. Can I help you?"
Me: Yes, I need to see if you have a 25g  1 1/2 needle that I could purchase?
Pharmacist:  Let me check....I have a 23, 30, 27...oh here we go a 25g 1 1/2.  We have one.
Me: Great I will be by to get it.
Pharmacist:  When do you need it?
Me: Tonight.
Pharmacist: Um, do you have a prescription?
Me: Uh...no.
Pharmacist: Okay..well???
Me: I am doing fertility and I lost the needle that goes with my hCG injection that I need to take tonight.  Would you like me to bring the prescription with me?
Pharmacist:  That would probably be helpful.

I guess not too many people ask for needles at 9pm on a Sunday evening.  I am assuming that he thought I was needing to get my next fix and could not find my needle.  hee!hee!  When I arrived to the pharmacy and asked for the needle (at 10:00 at night), the lady at the front told me that all they had were needles, but no syringes.  I said, "Oh I have plenty of syringes at home.  No need for a syringe."  Looking back, I though, I probably should have worded that differently.  She looked at me and I'm sure was thinking, "What the heck?"  I showed her my hCG prescription and after a couple of minutes of talking, we discovered that she is doing IVF with Dr. Schnell as well.  We exchanged numbers and plan to chit chat after my procedure tomorrow.  What a small world!  So after my scavenger hunt for a needle that I so desperately needed, I met Kris and got my huge shot right in the toosh.  Anything to have a baby..........

I read this entry after reading Tam's blog this morning. I know you've wanted a baby for so long and I am praying for you that this IVF will take! Stay positive... I look forward to hearing a beautiful success story!

Priceless, I love the entry! Anyone with a sense of humor at all will find the post hillarious! I think there was an even grander reason you ended up at the Pharmacy that night. It wasn't by accident that you crossed paths with a woman traveling your same road. Glad you two swapped numbers. Best of luck with the surgery!

I'm praying for you girl! I am so proud of you. It has been such a long journey and yet, this is truly just the beginning. It will be so worth it. God doesn't make mistakes and I agree with Tammy, you were supposed to meet that lady at the pharmacy! God is so awesome and I know that He has great things planned for you, Sean, and the baby(ies) yet to come!

Love you so much! Good luck tomorrow!

Love,
Paula

Please know that you and Sean are in my prayers often, but particularly this morning. Stay strong in your faith and, whatever the outcome, you will feel blessed.

This was a great story and I agree with Tam, it really needed to be shared. Isn't it great that God always puts us at the right place at the right time.
Thinking of you both this morning and waiting for a call that it is all over and my grandchild/children are on their way.
Love you both,
MOM
