Our Papa

Last Sunday, Feb. 28th was a very sad, yet joyous day in the Forey Family. Sean's 95 year old grandfather passed away. I posted about him a few weeks back asking for prayers and I thank everyone who did pray for him. Unfortunately, it was time for him to join his Heavenly Father and he was prepared and ready. After his fall during Christmas, his hip replacement, surgery for a pace maker and entering 2 different nursing homes, he came down with a stomach bug a few weeks ago and was very ill. After recovering from the bug, he decided that eating was not a priority in fear of getting sick again. My Mother in Law had to basically force Ensure down him as much as he would let her in hopes of getting some calories in him. After just a few times of taking the Ensure, a few cups of fruit and pudding, he made peace with the Lord and decided that it was time for him to see his wife again. He stopped eating and drinking and basically just waited for his body to shut down and give in. We visited often begging him to get up, try to walk and to eat anything, but he just did not have the drive to do it. He was ready!!! As difficult as it was, just making him comfortable, knowing that we were there and that we loved him, seemed to be all that we could do. He was still very coherent in his mind as his shell began to shut down. He decreased very quickly and finally went in peace. I know that he is rejoicing because he is now in the place that he has lived his life for 95 years trying to get to. He is with his wife and he can now see! What a deal for him right? Even though it is very difficult to see him go, I know without a doubt that he is the happiest he has ever been and is much happier than any of us could ever be here on this earth! He was a very faithful Christian man and loved the Lord with everything that he had. He was a deacon at his church for many, many years and was a wonderful example to everyone he came in contact with. At the service this weekend, the preacher stated that he could not think of ONE negative thing to say about Papa and how rare that was. It was so true, he had such a nature about him that was so simple, yet peaceful and caring. While hearing everything he said about our Papa, I thought to myself, "I hope that when I pass, people can say what a Christian woman I was and that I was an example of Jesus to everyone that I came in contact with." What an amazing thing to have said about you! Please keep our family in your prayers has we cope with the loss of our loved one!!!
