We did it.....Day 2

Day 2..what a day! It was hot, we were sore, we woke up late, we had blisters and were maybe even a little grouchy! hee!hee! But it did not stop us from walking the last 13 miles and accomplishing the goal that we had set. We stay Saturday night with Paula and her family and her sweet hubby woke up with us at 5am and made us a great breakfast...eggs, bacon, juice, milk, coffee and ADVIL. Breakfast of champions if you ask me....the Advil is anyway!

By 7:30, we were at the park clinic waiting to have some blisters wrapped and by 8:05am, we were off. Sad to say, we were literally the LAST 4 to leave the starting line...so we were way behind to start off with. We were determined to not be the last to lunch, quick stops or cross the finish line. So we walked at a pretty fast pace for a while to pass some folks and to catch up with some that were way ahead. We did pretty good, but there were still tons of walkers ahead of us. By mile 10, (actually mile 36), we were dragging. Tam and Paula joined the "foot blister club" and had to have their toes wrapped at our lunch stop and we were really starting to feel the muscle pains. How people run marathons is beyond me!!! We felt like we were dying, but we kept up the pace and kept going.

The emotional part of this journey hit us at about mile 37-38. We had to really encourage each other, push each other and remind ourselves that our struggle to finish was NOTHING compared to the struggle of chemo...radiation...cancer! So we kept going!!! At mile 39..as promised from the first day...margaritas were waiting for us..but like troopers (tired warn out troopers), we kept going the last little bit to cross the finish line.

WE MADE IT!!!!! 39.2 miles!!! What a great feeling to walk through the pink arches knowing that we had just made a difference for so many women. Our families were there to greet us and I even had an unexpected cheerleader at the finish line....my wonderful husband!!! He was supposed to be at work, but he surprised me and was waiting at the finish line!!! It was an amazing 2 days and I cannot imagine surviving it without Tam, Paula, Lanette and Ashley!!! Thank you ladies and I cannot wait until Houston 2011!!!!

IN IT TO END IT
