Never Say Never
Our parents always told us growing up, "Never say never." Always rolling my eyes and wanting to prove them wrong when they would tell us that, was my reaction to that phrase. I cannot really say that I remember a time that I have done something that I honestly said I would never do.....until now! It amazes me how quickly you change when you become a Mommy. Never in a million years did I think I would do something like this and cannot believe that I am even admitting what I have done. This past Thursday was the twins first outing to the mall. Mom and I spent 2 hours that morning getting ourselves and the babies ready to hit the mall and do some clothes shopping for the twins. I prepared the diaper bag (for the first time) and got the car packed with the stroller, bags and twins. Off we go to the mall. After hours of shopping, diaper changes and feedings, we close the mall down and decide to head home. The twins were starting to get a little fussy and were ready for their 9pm feeding. We were out of bottles and were rushing as fast as we could to get home before they fully awoke starving to death! (Again, first time I had ever packed the diaper bag and this was their first outing.) As we get out of the Macy's parking lot and head 45 South, Chance starts screaming his lungs out. He is crying so hard, that we pull over and Mom tries to soothe him and put his pacifier back in his mouth. He gets quiet, we pull out of the parking lot and head home. Not even 5 minutes down the road, he starts screaming like mad again. And when I say screaming, I mean screaming where he can barely catch his breath. Mom tries to crawl in the back seat and calm him down, but he wanted no part of it. My only options were to let him scream like that the whole way home or pull over and nurse him. So....I pull over into the HOOTERS parking lot, get my child, whip out my boob and feed my child in the parking lot of HOOTERS!!!! I NEVER EVER in a million years pictured me doing ANYTHING of the sort in my life! I kept picturing some stupid drunk guy walking out of Hooters and getting into a car parked next to us. Or someone parking next to us and noticing that I am sitting in the car with a child attached to my breat! I had not choice, but learned a VERY good lesson. I will ALWAYS pack more formula than I think we will need! I hope to never breast feed my child in a parking lot of HOOTERS ever again! NEVER SAY NEVER!!!!!!
